Twenty people have died in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Kannauj, UP.
Twenty people have died in the accident when a bus carrying 46 passengers crashed with a truck in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. The two vehicles caught fire after the accident and twenty-one passengers were rushed to the hospital, said the police.
The police claimed that it was a head-on collision between the vehicles. The private sleeper bus was on its way to Jaipur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle and expressed his grief about the mishap. He tweeted, “Saddened to know about the serious road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj. Many people have lost their lives in this accident. I express my condolences to the families of the dead, I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
The fire was extinguished with the help of three fire engines. The fire in the both the vehicles was doused in forty minutes.
General of Police, Kanpur range, Mohit Aggarwal said, “The 21 people rescued are out of danger. The fire in bus and truck has been doused. It is very unlikely anyone will be found alive inside the bus.”
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of UP, has ordered proper treatment of those injured in the accident.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences to the families and tweeted, “I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who died and wish speedy recovery for those injured.”
