  • PublishedAugust 6, 2023

As Independence Day approaches, it’s important to remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for India’s freedom. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has established India’s first outdoor museum, Shaheedi Park, as a tribute to these heroes of Indian history. Here’s everything you need to know about this museum if you’re planning a visit:

Overview: Shaheedi Park is India’s first outdoor museum dedicated to the heroes of Indian history. It features a collection of statues and structures depicting the struggle for India’s independence. The park covers 4.5 acres of land and serves as a recreational space for people of all ages.

Waste to Art Theme: The park follows a “waste to art” theme, where all the statues are created from upcycled waste products. Around 250 tonnes of scrap materials have been used to create these sculptures. The park is a manifestation of artistry and dedication to transform waste into meaningful and inspiring artworks.

Inauguration: The park was recently inaugurated by Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, on August 8th.

Ticket Prices and Timings:

  • The park is open on all days from 8 AM to 6 PM, with timings possibly differing on government holidays.
  • Ticket prices are affordable: ₹100 per head for adults and ₹50 per head for children.
  • There are also food and souvenir kiosks inside the park for visitors to enjoy.

Location and Development: The park is situated on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Delhi. It has been developed over a span of 20 years and includes around 56,000 trees. The cost of developing the park amounts to ₹15 crores.

Purpose and Significance: Shaheedi Park not only pays tribute to the heroes of India’s freedom struggle but also showcases the importance of sustainable practices through its waste-to-art concept. It stands as a place of remembrance, reflection, and inspiration for all.

If you’re interested in history, art, and paying homage to India’s freedom fighters, a visit to Shaheedi Park could be a meaningful and enlightening experience.
