Gujarat Man Smuggled Gold Worth Rs 50 Lakh From Dubai, Then It Was Stolen

Gujarat Police arrested two men for allegedly posing as officials of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and robbed a man of gold worth Rs 50 lakh, which he smuggled into the country from Dubai.

Complainant Danish Sheikh informed the police that, on October 9, he traveled to Dubai at the request of an acquaintance in Vadodara who arranged his tickets and accommodation. The individual paid him Rs 20,000 to smuggle gold, according to an official.

Sheikh reportedly concealed two gold capsules in his rectum and arrived at Ahmedabad airport on October 28 in the early hours. After completing immigration procedures, he walked to the airport parking lot, where a van sent by his acquaintance awaited to take him to Vadodara.

According to the FIR, when the complainant was about to board the van, two men claiming to be ATS officials approached. They threatened him, asserting knowledge of the smuggled gold, and insisted on taking him to the ATS office.

The accused drove the van to an isolated location, where they instructed him to get into a car. The car transported Sheikh to a high-rise building, and he was taken to a 10th-floor flat. There, he was assaulted and coerced into extracting the gold capsules concealed in his rectum, as stated in the FIR.
