In a distinguished ceremony at Buckingham Palace, K-pop sensation Blackpink received royal honors for their impactful advocacy on climate change. King Charles III conferred honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire titles to Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, and Lalisa Manoban. Notably, Roseanne Park (Rose), a New Zealand citizen with dual citizenship, was granted an MBE.

Acknowledging Blackpink’s pivotal role in amplifying the message of environmental sustainability at the COP26 summit, the awards signify their global impact beyond music. King Charles III praised the group’s commitment to pressing global issues, remarking on their ability to balance their superstar status with vital concerns.

During President Yoon Suk Yeol’s state visit, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and South Korea’s President solidified plans for heightened cooperation in technology, defense, and trade. Discussions included an upgraded free trade agreement and mutual agreements on AI advancements, naval patrols, and enforcing UN sanctions on North Korea.
