Sadhguru Urges Respect for Linguistic Diversity Amidst Language Debate

In response to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent assertion of Hindi as the national language, renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has emphasized the significance of India’s linguistic diversity. Sadhguru highlighted that India’s identity, “Hindustan,” refers to the land of Hindus, not exclusively the Hindi language.

Addressing the need to honor linguistic equality, Sadhguru urged Kumar to refrain from divisive statements, emphasizing that the foundation of state demarcations was to ensure all languages receive equal recognition.

The controversy ensued during an INDIA bloc meeting when a request for translation was denied by Kumar, sparking a debate over language imposition. Sadhguru’s intervention underscores the ongoing sensitivity surrounding language politics, particularly concerning the alleged imposition of Hindi by the central government, especially in southern states.

Sadhguru’s call for respecting India’s linguistic diversity echoes a growing discourse emphasizing inclusivity and equality among all languages within the country.
