India Celebrates 75th Republic Day with ‘Nari Shakti’ Theme, French President Macron as Chief Guest

India commemorates its historic 75th Republic Day with a grand parade on Kartavya Path, accentuating the theme of ‘Nari Shakti’ or women’s empowerment. The celebration witnesses French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest, highlighting the strong ties between India and France.

For the first time, an all-women tri-services contingent and fifteen women pilots from the Indian Air Force will participate, showcasing the nation’s commitment to gender equality. Over 100 women artists playing traditional instruments will lead the parade, replacing the customary military bands.

The festivities, led by President Droupadi Murmu and President Macron, include a diverse display of indigenous military hardware, featuring missiles, drone jammers, surveillance systems, and more. A combined band and marching contingent from the French Armed Forces symbolize the bilateral relations.

Sixteen state and Union territories’ tableaux, along with central ministries, will roll down Kartavya Path, emphasizing India’s rich cultural tapestry and the theme of women empowerment.

Stringent security measures, including 70,000 deployed personnel, ensure the safety of the 77,000 expected spectators. President Murmu and President Macron arrive at Kartavya Path in the traditional buggy after 40 years, adding a touch of historical significance.

The 75th Republic Day celebrations blend military prowess, cultural diversity, and a resolute commitment to women’s empowerment, marking a significant milestone in India’s history.
