Chandigarh University Founder-Chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Appointed to Rajya Sabha

Renowned educationist and community leader, Satnam Singh Sandhu, 54, founder-chancellor of Chandigarh University, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Droupadi Murmu. Recognized for his pivotal role in establishing Chandigarh Group of Colleges in 2001 and Chandigarh University in 2012, Sandhu has been actively involved in fostering education and communal harmony.

In addition to his contributions to the field of education, Sandhu has dedicated himself to community service, emphasizing health, wellness, and communal harmony through two prominent NGOs, the Indian Minorities Foundation and the New India Development Foundation.

Welcoming the nomination, Vice-President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar commended Sandhu’s commitment to community service and education, foreseeing his valuable contributions to the Upper House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed delight at Sandhu’s nomination, acknowledging his significant role as an educationist and social worker dedicated to national integration.

Sandhu’s parliamentary journey is anticipated to bring enriching perspectives to Rajya Sabha proceedings, reflecting his extensive experience in community development and national service.
