Aam Aadmi Party Takes Bold Stride: To Contest All Lok Sabha Seats in Punjab and Chandigarh, Ending Opposition Alliance
  • PublishedFebruary 10, 2024

In a surprising move, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared its decision to contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and one in Chandigarh, marking the end of the Opposition’s alliance in the state. The announcement was made by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal during a gathering in Khanna, Punjab.

Addressing the audience, Kejriwal reminisced about the historic victory in the Punjab Assembly elections two years ago, urging the people for another blessing in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “The Lok Sabha elections will be held in two months. Punjab has 13 seats, plus one from Chandigarh, making it a total of 14. In the next 10-15 days, the AAP will announce candidates for all 14 seats,” he stated.

The move comes as a major shake-up in the political landscape, with the AAP aiming to replicate its success in the state assembly elections. Kejriwal emphasized the need for the people’s support to secure a majority in all 14 seats. The party plans to unveil its candidates shortly, signaling a robust electoral campaign.

This strategic decision by the AAP is poised to reshape the political dynamics in Punjab and Chandigarh, setting the stage for a competitive and closely-watched electoral battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
