“Farmers’ Protest 2.0 Commences with Strong Resistance at Punjab-Haryana Border”

The resurgence of the farmers’ protest, known as Farmers’ Protest 2.0, commenced on Tuesday as farmers initiated their march from Punjab towards Delhi. Despite heightened security measures and barriers, farmers faced resistance at the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana. Concrete slabs, barbed wires, and nails obstructed their path, while the Delhi government rejected the Centre’s proposal to convert Bawana stadium into a makeshift jail for potential protesters.

The Delhi government, led by AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, expressed support for the farmers, emphasizing the legitimacy of their demands and the right to peaceful protest. Haryana police resorted to firing tear gas shells as the protesters approached the Shambhu border.

Farmers’ leader Sarwan Singh Pandher conveyed that the protest’s continuation depended on Haryana, urging farmers not to clash with authorities. Highlighting the fortified state of Haryana, Pandher criticized the government’s approach, stating that Haryana had turned into Kashmir valley.

Contrary to claims, the farmers asserted they were not blocking roads and blamed the government for the road closures. The protest, unrelated to the Congress, aimed to address the concerns of farmers, dissociating from any political affiliation.

The Delhi government, expressing solidarity with the farmers, declined the Centre’s proposal to convert Bawana Stadium into a jail. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Modi government’s measures, citing barbed wire, tear gas, and a dictatorial approach against the farmers’ voices.
