  • PublishedFebruary 14, 2024

A coalition of 37 farm bodies, led by BKU (Rajewal) president Balbir Singh Rajewal, is set to meet in Jalandhar today as part of the ongoing farmers’ protest. The meeting comes amidst their call for a Bharat bandh on February 16. Tight security continues at the Ghazipur border as the protest enters its second day. Drone visuals from the Singhu border in Delhi depict the extensive security arrangements in place. Additionally, a road near the Shambhu border has been dug up to prevent the movement of heavy vehicles.

Farmers, on the second day of their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, are preparing food at the Shambhu border. Heavy security deployment is maintained at the Singhu border, including RAF personnel, police personnel, and a riot control vehicle. Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee General Secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher expressed the farmers’ desire for the Prime Minister to step forward and engage in dialogue, emphasizing the need for a legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to prevent crops from being sold below the MSP. The protest seeks key agricultural reforms and discussions on issues affecting the farming community.
