Congress Leader Kamal Nath Stays in Delhi Amid Exit Rumors, Party Assures Continued Loyalty
  • PublishedFebruary 20, 2024

Despite swirling rumors about his potential shift to the BJP, veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath remains in New Delhi. While some of his associates dismiss the reports as mere speculation, the Congress leadership seeks to dispel concerns about his loyalty. To assess the situation on the ground and engage with party MLAs in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has dispatched General Secretary Jitendra Singh to Bhopal.

Jitendra Singh is expected to discuss the prevailing mood among MLAs and party leaders amidst the reports of Kamal Nath’s potential exit. Recent events, including the temporary disappearance of a party flag featuring ‘Jai Shri Ram’ during a meeting in New Delhi, have added to the speculation.

In response to the rumors, Jitendra Singh emphasized that Kamal Nath is a senior leader of the Congress, and the speculations have been fueled by the BJP and the media. Singh stated that he recently spoke with Kamal Nath, who expressed his commitment to the party and discussed preparations for the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.”

While Kamal Nath himself has not categorically denied or confirmed the rumors, he urged people not to get overly excited and assured that he would inform them if there were any concrete developments. The veteran leader is reportedly unhappy with the party leadership, blaming him for the electoral setbacks in Madhya Pradesh and his removal as the state chief. Additionally, his dissatisfaction extends to recent developments, such as the Rajya Sabha nomination and his son Nakul Nath’s announcement of contesting elections without official communication from the Congress. Despite the uncertainties, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has asserted that Kamal Nath remains, was, and will continue to be with the Congress.
