Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Sends Legal Notices to Congress Leaders for Defamation
  • PublishedMarch 2, 2024

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has issued legal notices to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Jairam Ramesh for sharing alleged defamatory content about him on the party’s official X account. Gadkari’s lawyer, Balendu Shekhar, revealed that the notices were sent in response to a 19-second video clip taken out of Gadkari’s interview with a news portal. The clip, shared by Congress on X, allegedly concealed the context and meaning of Gadkari’s words.

According to the legal notices, the interview was twisted and distorted to carry out a sinister act with the intent of creating confusion, sensation, and disrepute. Gadkari’s lawyer accused the Congress leaders of deliberately posting the video to malign Gadkari’s reputation and provoke a rift within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The notices demand the removal of the video from X and a written apology within three days, warning of further legal actions if not complied with.

The Congress leaders are accused of being aware of the context of Gadkari’s remarks, where he was highlighting the developmental efforts of the Modi government. The legal notices emphasize that the caption of the interview was false and scandalous, intending to insult and demean Gadkari while provoking ideological rift within the BJP.
