In a whirlwind tour of the Northeast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his two-day visit with an enchanting elephant and jeep safari in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. Immersed in the natural beauty, PM Modi shared moments of feeding sugar cane to elephants and marveled at the rich biodiversity of the region, known for its iconic one-horned rhinoceros.

The visit holds strategic importance as it sets the stage for the dedication of the Sela Tunnel, the launch of the ambitious UNNATI scheme, and the inauguration of developmental projects valued at over ₹42,000 crore across North East, Assam, West Bengal, and Varanasi.

PM Modi’s schedule is packed with impactful events, starting with the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit North East’ program in Itanagar. The Sela Tunnel, a key infrastructural project, will be dedicated to the nation, enhancing connectivity in the region. Simultaneously, the UNNATI scheme, with an estimated value of ₹10,000 crore, will be inaugurated, reflecting the government’s commitment to comprehensive development.

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for various projects spanning Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, contributing to the progress and well-being of these states.

In Jorhat, PM Modi will unveil the 125-ft high ‘Statue of Valour’ dedicated to the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan. This will be followed by a public program where projects worth more than ₹17,500 crore in Assam will be inaugurated.

The itinerary extends to Siliguri, West Bengal, where PM Modi will inaugurate projects valued at around ₹4,500 crore. The day concludes with a visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where the Prime Minister will perform Darshan and Pooja at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

On Sunday, PM Modi’s agenda includes laying the foundation stone for various development projects exceeding ₹42,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh. Later, he will reach Varanasi to disburse the first installment under the Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh through video conferencing.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to holistic development, connectivity, and the well-being of diverse regions across the country.
