Amit Shah Accuses Arvind Kejriwal of CAA Outburst Amid Alleged Corruption Exposures
  • PublishedMarch 14, 2024

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has fired back at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s criticism of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), alleging that Kejriwal’s outburst stems from his party’s purported exposure in corruption cases. In an interview with ANI, Shah claimed that Kejriwal’s agitation against the CAA is a diversion tactic from AAP’s alleged corruption scandals, urging him to focus on national security concerns such as Bangladeshi infiltrators instead.

Kejriwal recently reiterated his opposition to the CAA, warning of increased migration and lawlessness, labeling the law as “dirty vote bank politics.” However, Shah dismissed these claims, asserting that the law aims to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries, offering them the rights they have been denied for generations.

Challenging Kejriwal’s stance, Shah questioned his silence on issues like Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas, suggesting that Kejriwal’s criticism is politically motivated. Shah warned that Kejriwal will face difficulties in the upcoming Delhi elections due to his alleged vote-bank politics.

Shah’s remarks also targeted other opposition leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Mamata Banerjee, who have denounced the CAA as discriminatory. Shah emphasized that the law is a humanitarian effort to address the plight of persecuted minorities and should not be viewed in isolation from its historical context.

As the political debate surrounding the CAA continues, Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to providing refuge to persecuted minorities, framing the issue as a matter of justice and empathy rather than political gain.
