“Scienc-sational 2.0” Celebrations Illuminate Amity University Punjab on National Science Day.
Amity University Punjab proudly marked National Science Day with its vibrant celebration, “Scienc-sational 2.0,” on February 28th, 2024. The event, held in honor of the renowned Nobel laureate, C.V. Raman epitomized the university’s commitment to fostering scientific inquiry and innovation.
The festivities started with an exciting treasure hunt game, “Ami-sterious (solve for x),” where participants embarked on a journey of intellectual challenges, showcasing their problem-solving prowess across three exhilarating rounds.
The intellectual stimulation continued with the inaugural round of the “Battle of Brains” quiz competition, engaging students in a thrilling test of their scientific knowledge and acumen. This set the stage for the main event, dedicated to commemorating National Science Day.
The day also had captivating science experiments and poster presentations by students, showcasing the marvels of scientific exploration. A poignant reflection on the life and legacy of C.V. Raman was delivered by esteemed faculty member Dr. Anmoldeep Randhawa, paying homage to the eminent scientist’s contributions.
Enriching the discourse, a guest lecture on Mycobacterial Biofilm by Dr. Ashwani Kumar, a distinguished Senior Scientist at CSIR-IMTech, captivated the audience. The event culminated with the gripping final round of the quiz competition, testing participants’ profound understanding of scientific principles.
In a creative interlude, the Hunar Committee, AUP’s Theatre Club, presented a thought-provoking skit juxtaposing superstitions against scientific principles, emphasizing the importance of rational inquiry and evidence-based reasoning.
The day concluded with a ceremony honouring the winners of the treasure hunt and quiz competitions, recognizing their achievements and dedication. The event closed with heartfelt gratitude expressed by the honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Kohli, acknowledging the collective efforts that made “Scienc-national 2.0” a resounding success.
