PM Modi’s “Noob” Remark Sparks Political Debate
  • PublishedApril 13, 2024

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sparked a political debate on Saturday with a lighthearted remark during a chat with gamers, where he referred to an opponent as a “noob,” a term from gaming slang meaning someone who is inexperienced or not very skilled.

In a video shared on his X platform, PM Modi chuckled at the mention of the term “noob” by gamers and humorously suggested that using such language during elections could lead to speculation about whom he was referring to. While he didn’t explicitly name anyone, the remark ignited a political slugfest, with Congress leader Pramod Tiwari criticizing PM Modi’s use of slang.

Responding to the Congress leader’s reaction, BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla took a dig at the opposition, suggesting that their response confirmed who is the real “noob” in politics.

Even Bollywood actress and BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut joined the discussion, posting the clip on her X platform with a query, “Who is this Noob?”

The interaction between PM Modi and gamers covered various topics related to the gaming industry, with the Prime Minister urging gamers to email their concerns to his office for consideration. He also discussed the need for a structured approach to regulating the gaming industry in India, emphasizing the importance of aligning regulations with the country’s requirements.

PM Modi’s foray into gaming, including donning a virtual headset and trying his hand at gaming, highlighted the growing significance of the gaming industry in India. With games based on Indian mythology gaining popularity, the government has been supportive of fostering creativity within the gaming sector.

The conversation underscored the evolving landscape of digital entertainment and the government’s efforts to address the needs of gamers while ensuring responsible regulation.
