Iran’s President Warns Israel of Dire Consequences Amidst Tensions

During a three-day visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi issued a stern warning to Israel, cautioning that any attack on Iranian territory could lead to significant repercussions, potentially threatening the existence of the “Zionist regime.” Speaking at Lahore University, Raisi emphasized that Iran had already demonstrated its resolve through a counterstrike on April 13, retaliating against Israel’s alleged attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.

The Iranian president accused the West of hypocrisy, criticizing their claims of defending human rights while Israel continued its actions against Gaza. Raisi also condemned the US for allegedly arresting college students participating in pro-Palestine protests.

Despite recent tensions, efforts to mend relations between Iran and Pakistan were evident as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Raisi signed multiple agreements during the visit. These included plans for a joint special economic zone and cooperation on counterterrorism efforts. Raisi stressed the importance of boosting bilateral trade between the two nations to $10 billion within the next few years during a joint press briefing.
