NYPD Officers Rescue Woman From 54-Storey Rooftop Ledge
Dramatic footage captured NYPD officers scaling a glass barrier to rescue a distressed woman standing on the ledge of a 54-storey building in Manhattan. The 33-year-old woman was reportedly about to jump from the Midtown building on East 29th Street when the NYPD’s emergency service unit (ESU) received a call around 3:10 pm. Upon arrival, officers used rope rescue skills to reach the woman, who was separated from them by the glass barrier. They secured her and helped her to safety atop the barrier before taking her to Bellevue Hospital. The incident highlights the critical role of the NYPD’s ESU in responding to emergencies. In a similar incident in Kolkata, police successfully persuaded a man from attempting suicide by offering him biryani and a job, showcasing the importance of empathy and crisis intervention in law enforcement.
