  • PublishedMay 10, 2024

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has refuted claims of receiving 700 complaints against Prajwal Revanna, the Hassan MP embroiled in a sexual harassment case. In a significant turn, the NCW stated that a woman alleged she was coerced into filing a complaint against Revanna, claiming harassment by a group impersonating Karnataka police.

The woman, seeking protection for her family, reported receiving threats from multiple numbers. NCW clarified that only one woman approached them, refuting the widespread reports of multiple complainants. Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna remains abroad, avoiding Indian authorities, while his father, HD Revanna, faces arrest under sexual abuse and kidnap charges.

Amidst the controversy, HD Kumaraswamy, JDS second-in-chief, accused the Congress government of bias in the SIT investigation, advocating for a fair probe. He questioned the government’s claim of 2900 victims, challenging the lack of evidence and accusing them of power misuse. Kumaraswamy met Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, urging an impartial investigation into the case, highlighting the political tensions surrounding the scandal.
