Congress Leader Predicts AAP Government’s Demise in Punjab, Calls for Chief Minister’s Resignation
  • PublishedJune 6, 2024

Partap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab assembly, has foreseen the downfall of the AAP-led state government, asserting that it won’t complete its full term. Following the resurgent Congress’s victory in seven out of 13 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, Bajwa has urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to resign on moral grounds, citing AAP’s poor performance.

Bajwa attributes the Congress’s success to the rejection of not only the BJP at the Centre but also of AAP and SAD in Punjab. He highlights the failure of the BJP’s ‘Modi magic’ and polarization tactics, as evidenced by their zero-seat outcome in the state after 26 years. According to Bajwa, voters have expressed their faith in the Congress, evidenced by the party’s significant wins despite not holding power either at the Centre or in the state.

He emphasizes the issues of threat to the Constitution, the Agniveer scheme for youth, farmer demands, and law and order problems as key factors that swayed voters towards the Congress. Bajwa contends that the AAP government’s collapse is imminent, citing internal strife and the CM’s failure to address challenges effectively.

Furthermore, Bajwa reiterates the Congress’s stance against the BJP nationally and vows to oppose AAP in Punjab. He urges newly elected MPs to fulfill their promises and warns voters against falling prey to divisive tactics allegedly orchestrated by the BJP.

Looking ahead, Bajwa expresses confidence in the Congress’s resurgence, setting a goal to reclaim power in 2027 and replace AAP as Punjab’s governing party. He asserts that Congress workers are energized by the prospect of this political shift.
