Giriraj Singh Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Reflect on RSS’s Role During Indira Gandhi’s Era
  • PublishedSeptember 9, 2024

Union Minister Giriraj Singh took a sharp swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that if there were a way to connect with the deceased, he should ask his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, about the role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during her time. Singh’s remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the RSS while addressing the Indian diaspora in Dallas, where he claimed that the BJP’s parent organization views India as a single idea, while Congress believes in India’s multiplicity of ideas.

Singh argued that Rahul Gandhi has no understanding of the RSS, pointing to the time when Indira Gandhi, as prime minister, was leading India through critical battles, including the conflict with Pakistan. He added that Rahul would need “several lifetimes” to grasp the depth of the RSS’s philosophy and cultural roots in India.

The Union minister also accused Gandhi of frequently tarnishing India’s image abroad, suggesting that his criticism of the country and its leadership reflects his inability to understand the nation’s heritage and the role of organizations like the RSS. Singh further defended the RSS, emphasizing that it is an integral part of India’s traditions and culture, which Rahul Gandhi, in Singh’s view, fails to comprehend.
