Google Celebrates Nobel Prize Wins in AI and Chemistry.

Google is proud to announce two major Nobel Prize victories this year, with Geoffrey Hinton, Demis Hassabis, and John Jumper earning global recognition for their groundbreaking work in artificial intelligence (AI) and protein structure prediction.

Geoffrey Hinton, a former Google Brain scientist, won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for his pivotal contributions to machine learning with artificial neural networks. Hinton’s work laid the foundation for today’s advancements in AI technologies, widely utilized across Google’s ecosystem.

In Chemistry, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, and John Jumper, Senior Research Scientist at DeepMind, were awarded the Nobel Prize for developing AlphaFold2. This revolutionary AI model solved the long-standing challenge of predicting protein structures, significantly advancing drug discovery, enzyme design, and disease research. AlphaFold2 has been utilized by over two million researchers globally, transforming biochemistry and biotechnology.

Hassabis expressed gratitude, saying, “AlphaFold demonstrates AI’s potential to accelerate scientific discovery.” Jumper added, “This award recognizes the incredible work of our team at Google DeepMind.”
