Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, and a towering figure in Indian industry, passed away at the age of 86. A visionary leader, he transformed the Tata Group into a $100 billion global conglomerate during his tenure as Chairman from 1991 to 2012.
In a heartfelt statement, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, expressed deep sorrow, calling Tata “a mentor, guide, and friend” whose unwavering commitment to integrity, excellence, and philanthropy shaped both the Tata Group and the nation. “His legacy of compassion, leadership, and innovation will continue to inspire future generations,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute, calling Ratan Tata a “visionary business leader” and “extraordinary human being” whose influence extended far beyond business, touching millions through his humility and philanthropic initiatives.
