UK Reaffirms Full Support to India in Bringing Pahalgam Attack Perpetrators to Justice
  • PublishedApril 30, 2025

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, the United Kingdom has strongly condemned the act and pledged its full support to India in ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Responding to an Urgent Question in the House of Commons raised by MP Gurinder Singh Josan, Foreign Office Minister Hamish Falconer expressed solidarity with India, stating, “We want to see the perpetrators held to justice properly, and we will be supporting India to do so.”

Amid concerns over rising regional tensions spilling over into the UK, including violent protests and provocative gestures outside diplomatic missions, Falconer stressed the importance of calm and responsibility. He confirmed that the Metropolitan Police is investigating incidents outside the Pakistan High Commission and assured full protection for both Indian and Pakistani missions under the Vienna Convention.

Several MPs, including Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel, raised concerns about cross-border links to Pakistan and their implications for UK communities. Falconer called on all community and faith leaders to foster unity, noting, “This is a time for coming together, not playing out state tensions on UK streets.”

Reiterating the UK’s long-standing stance, Falconer emphasized that the Kashmir issue must be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan, respecting the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

He concluded, “This was a horrific terrorist attack, not militancy—and that is the British government’s clear position.”
