WAVES 2025: Modi Flags Off India’s Biggest Media & Entertainment Summit in Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in India’s media and entertainment landscape. Held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, the four-day event is the first of its kind in India and boasts the tagline “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries.”
The summit has drawn participation from over 90 countries, featuring more than 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, 300 companies, and 350 startups. Jointly organised by the central and state governments, WAVES 2025 aims to position India as a global powerhouse in the audiovisual and digital entertainment sectors.
The event is set to feature 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses, covering a wide array of topics including broadcasting, films, gaming, OTT, digital media, AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality), and artificial intelligence.
According to official sources, the summit is designed to serve as a global platform for strategic dialogue, content collaboration, and technological innovation in entertainment. Modi is expected to lead a high-level roundtable with global media CEOs, underscoring the government’s commitment to nurturing the creative economy.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will tour the Creatosphere and engage with top creators from the “Create in India” initiative, spotlighting the country’s emerging talent and innovation ecosystem in the creative arts.
