US VP JD Vance Urges Caution in India’s Response to Pahalgam Attack; Calls for Pakistan’s Cooperation
  • PublishedMay 2, 2025

In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, US Vice President JD Vance emphasized the need for a measured response from India to prevent the escalation of regional tensions. Speaking on Fox News, Vance stated, “Our hope is that India responds to this terrorist attack in a way that doesn’t lead to a broader regional conflict.”

Vance, who was in India during the attack, condemned the incident and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families. He called on Pakistan to cooperate fully with India in tracking down the perpetrators, believed to be operating from Pakistani soil.

The attack, which occurred at a scenic tourist site in Jammu and Kashmir, is the deadliest on civilians since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy. It has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, prompting a series of diplomatic and strategic responses from both sides.

Home Minister Amit Shah, in a strong statement, vowed a “precise and fitting” response, asserting that “revenge will be taken, one by one.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s resolve to pursue the attackers and their backers “to the ends of the earth.”

India has since taken significant diplomatic steps, including suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and closure of airspace to Pakistani carriers. The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged both nations to cooperate and de-escalate.
