The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Sahdev Singh Gohil, a multipurpose health worker from the Kutch border area, for allegedly sharing sensitive military information with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Gohil was reportedly in contact with a Pakistani agent, operating under the alias Aditi Bharadwaj, since mid-2023.
According to ATS SP K Siddharth, Gohil was supplying information about Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Air Force (IAF) installations, particularly newly built or under-construction sites. Initial communication began on WhatsApp, where Gohil was allegedly manipulated into sharing photos, videos, and other classified details. He later helped the agent activate a WhatsApp account using a SIM registered with his Aadhaar credentials and received ₹40,000 in cash from an unknown individual.
The accused was detained on May 1 for preliminary questioning and later confessed to the espionage activities. His phone has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, and a case has been registered under Sections 61 and 148 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This arrest follows a nationwide crackdown on espionage after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which saw the arrest of 11 individuals across Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, including travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra and other civilians.
Security agencies continue to remain on high alert as they investigate possible links to larger intelligence networks targeting Indian defense infrastructure.
