Sonam Bajwa Joins Star-Studded Cast of Border 2, to Star Opposite Diljit Dosanjh
Punjabi cinema sensation Sonam Bajwa is all set to star in the highly anticipated war drama Border 2, joining an ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. According to reports, Bajwa will begin shooting her portions by the end of June 2025.
The film, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, will see Sunny Deol reprise his iconic role as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri. Bajwa has reportedly been paired opposite Dosanjh and will portray a headstrong character with a powerful emotional arc, a key highlight in the storyline.
Border 2 is being mounted on a massive scale, with filming scheduled to continue through mid-August. A second leading actress is expected to join soon, paired opposite Varun Dhawan. The film is slated for a January 23, 2026 release, just ahead of India’s Republic Day.
This marks Bajwa’s third Hindi film, following her recent Bollywood debut in Housefull 5, which released on June 6. Despite mixed reviews, the film is performing well at the box office.
Bajwa and Dosanjh share an established on-screen rapport, having previously co-starred in Punjabi hits like Honsla Rakh, Shadaa, Super Singh, and Sardaarji 2.
Directed by a yet-to-be-announced filmmaker, Border 2 promises to be a powerful mix of patriotism, action, and emotion, bringing together some of India’s biggest stars.
