Israel Strikes Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Facility, Following U.S. Bombing Operation
  • PublishedJune 23, 2025

In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, Israel has launched an airstrike on Iran’s underground Fordow nuclear facility, less than 24 hours after the United States conducted a precision bombing operation targeting the same site. According to Iranian state television, the renewed attack focused on deeper sections of the highly fortified enrichment complex.

The strike comes amid growing fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East, with both Israel and the United States intensifying military pressure on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Fordow, located near the holy city of Qom, is one of Iran’s most sensitive nuclear sites, reportedly housing advanced centrifuges used for uranium enrichment.

This is the second strike on Fordow within 48 hours, following the U.S. military’s covert “Midnight Hammer” operation that deployed B-2 stealth bombers and bunker-buster bombs to target key Iranian nuclear sites, including Natanz and Isfahan.

Israeli officials have not formally confirmed the latest operation, but anonymous defense sources suggest the move was coordinated to reinforce strategic objectives shared with U.S. forces. Iran has yet to release details about the extent of the damage or casualties.

The attack underscores the growing military collaboration between Washington and Tel Aviv and raises urgent questions about the future of nuclear diplomacy in the region. Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful, while Israel and the U.S. allege covert weapons development.
