In a deeply tragic development, a couple and their 15-year-old son were found dead with gunshot wounds inside an SUV parked along the Banur-Tepla road on Sunday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Singh (45), his wife Mandeep Kaur (42), and their son Avay, residents of Sector 109, Mohali.
Passers-by noticed the white SUV with its ignition on in an isolated area and alerted authorities upon discovering the three bodies and a firearm inside the vehicle. All three victims had gunshot injuries to their heads. A pistol was recovered from the scene.
Police officials have stated that the incident appears to be a possible suicide pact, although investigations are ongoing and all angles are being examined. A forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence for further analysis.
Rajpura DSP Manjit Singh confirmed that family members have been informed, and statements will be recorded to help determine the sequence of events. The family originally hailed from Singhwala village near Lambi in Bathinda, and had moved to Mohali from Gurugram approximately two years ago.
Amrinder Singh, a relative, expressed deep shock and said the family had shown no signs of distress in recent interactions. Authorities are awaiting further input from relatives to help piece together the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
