U.S. Confirms Covert Airstrike on Iranian Nuclear Sites Under Operation “Midnight Hammer”
  • PublishedJune 23, 2025

The United States has confirmed the successful execution of a highly classified airstrike operation, codenamed Midnight Hammer, targeting three key Iranian nuclear facilities. The mission involved a strategic decoy maneuver using B-2 stealth bombers, with a group visibly flying toward Guam while the actual strike force headed eastward toward Iran.

According to the Pentagon, seven B-2 bombers conducted an 18-hour, radar-evading flight to reach Iranian airspace. Supported by U.S. fighter jets and a submarine-launched barrage of Tomahawk missiles, the bombers dropped 14 GBU-57 bunker-busting bombs on underground nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — causing severe damage to Iran’s critical infrastructure.

General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated, “Iran’s air defense systems did not detect our aircraft. We achieved total surprise.” Over 125 aircraft supported the mission, making it the largest B-2 coordinated strike in history.

The attack occurred just days after Israel’s missile assault on Iran under Operation Rising Lion. In response to the U.S. strike, Iran launched missiles at Israel, injuring dozens and destroying buildings in Tel Aviv.

While initial satellite images suggest extensive destruction at the Fordow facility, nuclear experts caution that the full impact on Iran’s nuclear program is yet to be confirmed.

The White House has not issued an official statement; President Trump revealed the operation in a late-night social media post.
