Diljit Dosanjh Likely to Be Replaced by Ammy Virk in ‘Border 2’ Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy
Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is reportedly being replaced in the upcoming war drama Border 2, amid ongoing controversy surrounding his Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, which cast Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. According to sources close to the production, Ammy Virk is being considered to step into the role previously held by Dosanjh.
The source stated, “Given that Border 2 centers around the Indian Army, the makers felt that continuing with Diljit Dosanjh might not align with the sentiment of the film, especially in light of the controversy. They are planning to re-shoot the portions that featured him.”
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had earlier issued strong objections, urging the producers to drop Dosanjh. FWICE President BN Tiwari said, “If the team continues to shoot with Diljit, it would indicate support for his decisions. Replacing him is the only practical solution.”
While T-Series and producer Nidhi Dutta have yet to release an official statement, India Today reports that internal discussions are ongoing. The final decision is expected soon.
Border 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to the iconic 1997 film Border. Headlined by Sunny Deol, the ensemble cast also includes Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. The film is slated for release on January 23, 2026, to coincide with Republic Day weekend.
