Live-in Partner Arrested for Murder of Woman in Bengaluru; Body Dumped in Garbage Truck
In a shocking incident, Bengaluru Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for the murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a BBMP garbage truck early Sunday morning in the ST Bed Layout area of Koramangala.
The accused, Shamsuddin, a native of Assam, was in a live-in relationship with the deceased, 40-year-old Asha, a widow from Hulimavu. Both were employees at a housekeeping materials company and had been living together for four months, posing as a married couple.
According to DCP Lokesh B Jagalasar, the couple’s relationship had become strained due to frequent arguments, largely attributed to Asha’s reported alcohol use and late-night phone calls. On the night of the incident, Shamsuddin allegedly returned home intoxicated and strangled Asha during an argument.
In a gruesome attempt to dispose of the body, the accused stuffed Asha’s remains into a bag, transported it nearly 20 km on his motorcycle, and dumped it in a BBMP garbage truck near a skating arena. The body was found with the legs tied to the neck, raising initial concerns of possible sexual assault.
CCTV footage and swift investigative work led to the identification and arrest of Shamsuddin within 20 hours. He is currently in police custody and being interrogated.
Further investigation is ongoing. Police have urged the public to report suspicious activities and domestic violence cases without delay.
