Trump-Musk Clash Escalates Over EV Tax Credit and $4 Trillion Spending Bill

A heated war of words has erupted between U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk over the proposed $4 trillion “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which includes the rollback of the $7,500 electric vehicle (EV) tax credit. Musk, opposing the bill, has threatened to launch a new political party — the “America Party” — if the legislation passes.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump claimed Musk has received “more subsidies than any human being in history,” adding that without them, Musk might “have to close up shop and head back to South Africa.” Trump also suggested that DOGE, the government’s cost-cutting body, review Musk’s government contracts for potential savings.

Musk responded swiftly on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I am literally saying CUT IT ALL. Now.” He dubbed the bill the “Debt Slavery Bill,” warning it would push the U.S. further into financial ruin by adding over $3 trillion to the national debt.

Trump reiterated his opposition to the EV mandate, calling it “ridiculous,” while Vice President JD Vance defended the bill and took a jab at Musk, stating illegal immigration is the bigger financial threat.

As tensions rise, Musk continues to criticize the current administration’s spending and EV policies, fueling political and economic debate nationwide.
