Indian-Origin Man Arrested for Mid-Air Assault on Frontier Airlines Flight
A 21-year-old Indian-origin man, Ishaan Sharma, was arrested on Monday night after allegedly assaulting a fellow passenger during a flight from Philadelphia to Miami. The incident occurred aboard a Frontier Airlines flight, prompting a swift response from authorities upon landing at Miami International Airport.
According to witness accounts and video footage, Sharma engaged in a violent altercation with passenger Keanu Evans, allegedly choking him mid-flight while behaving erratically. Evans claimed the attack was unprovoked, stating that Sharma had been issuing death threats and making disturbing statements. “He grabbed me by the throat and started choking me,” Evans told local media outlet WSVN.
Flight crew and passengers intervened to break up the fight. Sharma reportedly returned to his seat smiling and took selfies of his bloodied face before being escorted off the plane in handcuffs.
Following the incident, Sharma was treated at Jackson West Hospital and then booked into custody. During a court hearing, Sharma’s attorney claimed that her client had been meditating, which allegedly triggered the confrontation. However, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gerald Hubbart set bond at $500 and issued a stay-away order, prohibiting Sharma from contacting Evans or approaching his workplace or school.
The case has raised fresh concerns around in-flight safety and passenger behavior. Frontier Airlines has not yet issued an official statement.
Sharma faces battery charges and further investigation is underway.
