Uddhav and Raj Thackeray Reunite After 18 Years, Vow to Uphold Marathi Unity
In a historic political development, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray shared the stage for the first time in 18 years at the ‘Awaj Marathicha’ rally held at NSCI Dome in Worli. The event, which marked the Maharashtra government’s decision to roll back Hindi as an optional third language in schools, celebrated a symbolic victory for Marathi identity and culture.
Uddhav Thackeray declared, “We have come together to stay together… We have united to protect Marathi.” Emphasizing that this reunion is not a one-time gesture but the beginning of a long-term alliance, he added, “This is just the trailer. The full picture is yet to come.”
Raj Thackeray, in a humorous but pointed remark, said, “CM Fadnavis managed to do what even Balasaheb Thackeray couldn’t — bring me and Uddhav together.”
The rally witnessed massive participation from Marathi enthusiasts, writers, poets, and supporters of both parties, signaling a significant shift in the state’s political dynamics.
Looking ahead to the 29 upcoming municipal elections across Maharashtra, Uddhav asserted, “Raj and I will capture power in the Mumbai civic body and across the state.”
The Thackeray cousins’ reunion marks a powerful statement of regional solidarity, with a shared commitment to preserving and promoting Marathi language, culture, and political strength in Maharashtra.
