Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun’s Pairing in ‘Dhurandhar’ Sparks Age-Gap Debate Ahead of December Release

The recently unveiled first look of Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, has ignited both excitement and controversy across social media. While fans lauded the film’s powerful visuals and Singh’s intense transformation, the 20-year age gap between the lead pair has sparked a heated online debate.

Unveiled on Ranveer Singh’s birthday, July 6, the first glimpse of Dhurandhar promises a high-octane action thriller. However, many users pointed out that Sara Arjun, 20, was likely just 18 during the film’s shoot. Known for her work as a child artist in Tamil cinema and as young Aishwarya Rai in Ponniyin Selvan, her pairing with 40-year-old Singh has raised concerns about casting dynamics in Bollywood.

“Can you imagine a 40-year-old actor romancing a 20-year-old girl? This only happens in Bollywood,” read one viral post. Critics have questioned the industry’s repeated age-inappropriate pairings, sparking wider discourse on screen representation and gender dynamics.

Despite the controversy, the buzz around Dhurandhar remains high. Directed by Aditya Dhar and reportedly inspired by the life of Indian spy Ajit Doval, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. It is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar under Jio Studios.

Dhurandhar is slated for a theatrical release on December 5, 2024, clashing with Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab. The film’s trailer is expected to drop later this year.
