Heroic Effort at Jhansi Station: Army Doctor and Railway Staff Help Pregnant Woman Deliver Baby Girl on Platform

In a heartwarming display of coordination and compassion, a pregnant woman traveling aboard Train No. 15066 Panvel-Gorakhpur Express safely delivered a baby girl on the platform of Jhansi’s Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station, thanks to the swift response of railway staff and medical personnel, including an Army doctor.

The woman, who was nine months pregnant and en route to Barabanki, began experiencing labour pains mid-journey. Co-passengers quickly raised an alert through the Rail Madad app, informing the Jhansi Railway Control Room.

On receiving the alert, a prompt response team comprising female railway employees and a medical team led by Major Manoj Rohit from the Military Hospital in Jhansi rushed to the spot as the train arrived at the station.

“Major Rohit responded without delay, using minimal resources in a challenging environment to ensure the safe delivery of the baby,” said an Army official. “His swift action and presence of mind made all the difference.”

The baby girl’s first cry echoed around the platform, turning the station into a scene of relief and celebration. After providing initial treatment and care on-site, the mother and child were safely moved to a nearby hospital, where both are reported to be in good health.

This successful emergency delivery stands as a shining example of teamwork between civilian and military personnel in critical moments.
