Zareen Khan Claps Back at Ageist Trolls: “Will Marriage Make Me Young Again?”
Actor Zareen Khan has delivered a powerful and witty response to age-shaming trolls, sparking an important conversation about societal pressures on women. The actor recently posted a video addressing a comment on her Instagram post that read, “Shaadi kar lo, buddhi ho rahi ho” (“Get married, you’re getting old”). Zareen responded sharply, asking, “Toh kya shaadi karne ke baad main fir se jawan ho jaungi?” (“Will I become young again if I get married?”).
In her video, the Ready actor questioned why marriage is seen as the universal fix for all of life’s problems—especially for women. She challenged the regressive mindset that treats marriage as a solution to everything from joblessness to independence, saying, “If a person can’t handle their own life, adding another to the chaos isn’t the answer.”
Zareen also called out the double standards families impose, highlighting how growing independence—particularly in women—is often viewed as “losing control,” with marriage used as a means to rein them in.
“Is marriage some kind of magic trick?” she asked. “Because the reality is, most marriages don’t even last 2–3 months these days.”
Known for her debut in Veer opposite Salman Khan, Zareen Khan continues to use her platform to speak boldly against stereotypes. Her video has been widely appreciated for its honesty, humour, and relevance in today’s age of social media judgment and societal pressure.
