The legal battle over the estate of late businessman Sanjay Kapur has escalated as his children, from his marriage with actress Karisma Kapoor, have filed a suit in the Delhi High Court. They are seeking partition of the estate, rendition of accounts, and a permanent injunction, claiming denial of transparency in asset details.
The petition alleges that Priya Sachdeva, Sanjay Kapur’s surviving spouse, has withheld key documents and failed to disclose the full status of his estate. The children state that soon after their father’s passing, they were informed no will existed. However, over seven weeks later, an alleged will dated March 21, 2025, surfaced under suspicious circumstances. According to the plaintiffs, this will was shown briefly by its executor without providing copies, raising serious doubts about its authenticity.
Further, the children highlight concerns regarding the RK Family Trust, said to hold their father’s assets. They allege that despite initial instructions to attend the trust’s Annual General Meeting in July 2025, their participation was later cancelled without reason. Neither they nor their mother were ever given access to the trust deed or complete asset details.
The suit argues that Priya Sachdeva’s conduct — including the delayed appearance of the will and lack of transparency — is questionable and potentially prejudicial to the heirs’ rights. The children assert their entitlement to a fair share of their father’s personal assets and an equitable resolution. The High Court will now review the matter.
