Global Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh has finally addressed the controversies surrounding his film Sardaarji 3, the Pahalgam terror attack, and the recent India-Pakistan cricket match. Speaking during his concert in Malaysia, the singer-actor clarified misinformation and expressed heartfelt sentiments.
In a viral video from the event, Diljit stated that Sardaarji 3 was shot in February, well before the tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. He stressed that the subsequent India-Pakistan match occurred after the attack, emphasizing that both events were unrelated to his film.
Addressing criticism over the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaarji 3, Diljit said, “Sikhs can never go against the nation. Woh mere desh da jhanda hai (That’s my country’s flag). Always respect.” He also explained why he chose silence for months despite intense backlash: “I have many answers, but I kept everything inside me. I didn’t want to spread poison. Silence was my choice.”
The controversy earlier led to calls from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to blacklist him, which were later revoked.
On a positive note, Diljit confirmed he has wrapped up filming Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, co-starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The highly anticipated film is set for release on January 23, 2026.
