Panic gripped Sector 55 on Thursday morning after unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire on a gym owner outside KV Musclemania Gym & Cardio.
The victim, identified as Vicky of Sector 52, was shot four times in the legs around 5 am, shortly after stepping out of his car. A gym trainer rushed him to a private hospital, where he is currently under treatment.
Police sources said the attackers had been waiting outside the gym before launching the attack, apparently to intimidate the victim. Investigators are probing old rivalries as a possible motive, with Vicky’s family confirming he had received threatening calls in recent days.
A forensic team collected evidence from the scene, while CCTV footage captured the assailants fleeing moments before the gunfire. In a related development, shots were also fired at a hotel in Kajheri owned by Vicky’s friend earlier the same morning.
Police have launched a probe to establish links between the two incidents.
