Former Punjab Minister Razia Sultana and Ex-DGP Mohammad Mustafa Bereaved by Son’s Demise

Former Punjab Congress minister Razia Sultana and her husband, former Director General of Police Mohammad Mustafa, are mourning the untimely demise of their son, Aqil Akhtar, who passed away on Friday morning in Chandigarh after a brief illness. He was 33 years old.

According to family sources, Aqil’s body will be taken to Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, later in the day for burial at his father’s native village, Harda Kheri. He is survived by his wife Jainab Akhtar, a young son and daughter, along with his grieving parents.

Leaders from across Punjab’s political spectrum have expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Friends and well-wishers remembered Aqil as a kind-hearted and humble individual with a strong sense of family and community.

The passing of Aqil Akhtar marks a moment of deep sorrow for the Sultana–Mustafa family, who are widely respected for their contributions to Punjab’s public life and administration.
