Fortis Hospital Mohali Launches “Stroke Pe Rok – Recognise FAST, Act Faster” Campaign for Early Stroke Detection
Fortis Hospital Mohali has launched an extensive public awareness initiative titled “Stroke Pe Rok – Recognise FAST, Act Faster”, aimed at educating people on the early warning signs of brain stroke and the critical importance of immediate medical intervention.
Every year, millions worldwide suffer the life-altering effects of stroke, yet many fail to recognise its symptoms in time. The campaign underscores the F.A.S.T. principle — a simple tool for quick identification:
F – Face drooping: Check for facial unevenness.
A – Arm weakness: See if one arm drifts downward.
S – Speech difficulty: Notice if speech is slurred or strange.
T – Time: Call emergency services immediately.
Highlighting the urgency of timely action, Dr (Prof) Vivek Gupta, Additional Director, Neurointervention, and Director, Neuro Cath Lab, Fortis Mohali, said, “A stroke can strike anyone, anytime. The faster the patient reaches the hospital, the greater the chances of recovery.”
A key focus of the campaign is promoting mechanical thrombectomy, a minimally invasive, advanced procedure to remove stroke-causing clots, significantly improving recovery when performed promptly.
Supported by Medtronic, this initiative aims to empower communities through awareness and swift action. As Dr Gupta emphasised, “Stroke Pe Rok is not just a slogan—it’s a life-saving mission.”
