Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Two Delhi University Colleges; Campuses Evacuated, No Suspicious Objects Found
  • PublishedDecember 3, 2025

Two colleges under Delhi University — Ramjas College and Deshbandhu College — received bomb threat emails early Wednesday morning, prompting immediate evacuation, police deployment, and comprehensive anti-sabotage checks. The threatening emails, sent around 1:59 am, are the latest in a series of similar hoax threats received across Delhi’s educational institutions and courts in recent months.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia confirmed that the principal of Ramjas College alerted authorities early in the morning. Bomb Detection and Disposal Teams (BDDT) and local police units were promptly dispatched to conduct thorough inspections. Similar checks were simultaneously carried out at Deshbandhu College.

“So far, no suspicious objects have been recovered,” the police stated, adding that the sender of the threat email is yet to be identified. Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the message.

Campuses Evacuated; Exams Disrupted

A Ramjas College official said the email was discovered around 10 am, after which staff and students were immediately evacuated. Principal Ajay Arora reported that practical examinations scheduled for the day had to be halted. “The minute we received the bomb threat, we vacated the college and asked the students to go back home,” he said.

Deshbandhu College principal Rajendra Pandey confirmed that their campus also awaited formal clearance from the bomb squad before normal operations could resume.

Pattern of Recent Hoax Threats

The incident follows a concerning pattern of recent threat emails targeting schools, courts, and institutions across Delhi:

November 20: Five Delhi schools received bomb threats, triggering evacuations before being deemed hoaxes.

November 18: Four district courts — Saket, Patiala House, Rohini, Dwarka — and two CRPF-run schools received similar emails, disrupting hearings and prompting evacuations.

October 28: Over 200 Delhi schools received threatening emails, all later confirmed to be hoaxes.

Last year, more than 500 schools in Delhi received similar threats. A 17-year-old student was traced in connection with the emails but not formally apprehended.

Police Investigation Continues

Authorities are treating the latest threats with seriousness amid rising concerns about the frequency of such hoax communications causing widespread panic, disrupting academic schedules, and straining emergency resources. Efforts are ongoing to track down the source of the email and strengthen preventive monitoring.
