Fatehgarh Sahib District Administration Prepares for Shaheedi Jor Mela 2025
The Fatehgarh Sahib district administration has geared up for the annual Shaheedi Jor Mela, set to be held from December 25 to 27, commemorating the martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This historic event sees devotees from across Punjab and neighbouring states braving the winter chill and foggy weather to pay homage, with participation expected to reach up to 25 lakh devotees.
Devotees begin arriving days in advance, often spending nights in makeshift tents and tractor-trailers, to take part in the spiritual festivities. The Shaheedi Sabha will commence on December 25 with the Akhand Path of Guru Granth Sahib at Jyoti Swarup Sahib Gurdwara, the cremation site of the Sahibzadas, and will conclude on December 27 with the final Ardas.
Bhai Harpal Singh, Head Granthi of Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara, highlighted the spiritual significance of the event and encouraged devotees to participate with devotion and respect for the holy traditions.
Dr. Sona Thind, Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib, confirmed that all arrangements for the mela have been completed. Around 3,500 police personnel will be deployed, along with 300 CCTV cameras, six drones, 21 parking sites, and 72 naka points to ensure safety and smooth movement of devotees. An integrated control room has been established, along with a toll-free number for emergency assistance, enabling swift coordination across all departments.
The district administration has urged all devotees to follow guidelines, maintain discipline, and cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and peaceful Shaheedi Jor Mela for all attendees.
