In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (Border Range), Punjab, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), has recovered approximately 12.050 kg of suspected heroin near Dalleke village, PS Lopoke in Amritsar district. The operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs about suspicious drone activity in the area, indicating possible narcotics smuggling attempts.
Punjab Police DGP, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the seizure on social media, stating, “A major breakthrough has been achieved with the recovery of suspected heroin weighing nearly 12 kg. A case has been registered, and preliminary investigations are underway to trace both the backward and forward linkages of the drug network using a combination of technical evidence and human intelligence.”
The recovery is a significant step in Punjab Police’s ongoing mission to tackle drug trafficking, particularly in border areas where cross-border smuggling poses a major challenge. The involvement of drones in drug transportation has emerged as a growing concern, and Punjab Police, in close coordination with BSF, is taking all necessary measures to prevent such illegal activities.
The investigation is focused on identifying all individuals and networks involved in the narcotics trade, from suppliers to distributors, to ensure that criminal operations are dismantled at every level. Authorities have also intensified surveillance and technical monitoring along the border to prevent further attempts of drone-assisted smuggling.
DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized Punjab Police’s firm commitment: “We remain resolute in our efforts to counter drone-based narco-smuggling and dismantle drug networks across the border belt. Our objective is to ensure a drug-free environment for the youth of Punjab.”
The public is urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities, supporting the collective effort to curb drug trafficking in the state.
