5 POLLYWOOD STARS AND THEIR DEBUT TO GLORY STORIES

They say, the journey of thousand miles begins with one step. An actor's journey to being a superstar is riddled with lots of highs and lows. Those who stay tethered to the ground during their highs and those who do not deter despite facing the lows achieve success. Punjabi film industry is a hard world to survive in due to rigorous hours and so much competition, often actors only get to be one-movie wonders. But following Pollywood stars have carved their own way to stardom. Take a look:

  1. NEERU BAJWA

Most of the actors start their careers in Pollywood and move to greener pastures of B-town later. However, Neeru Bajwa had started her filmy journey from Main Solah Baras Ki (1998) in Bollywood and then came to Pollywood with Asa Nu Maan Watna Da in 2004. This beauty got praised not only for her looks but her effervescent acting chops as well. Some 21 films old in Punjabi film industry and a career spanning over more than a decade, she has explored various avenues like direction and production as well. And now will be seen opposite Amrit Mann in Aate Di Chiri. 2. JIMMY SHEIRGILL   He had already won all our hearts with his innocent eyes in Bolly-flick Maachis. However, this Punjabi munda came back to his roots in 2005 with Yaaraan Naal Baharaan and just enraptured Punjabi audiences. Probably, the best brand ambassador of Punjabi films even in B-town and a perfect juggler of his Hindi as well as Punjabi projects, Jimmy Sheirgill is blessed with the best of all- looks, talent and career. His last release Daana Paani has definitely added another feather to his illustrious filmography. 3. GIPPY GREWAL The King of Pollywood has recently made us all roll with laughter in Carry On Jatta 2. However, the man has walked a long way to reach this success. Going SRK way, he had started his film journey from Mel Karade Rabba in 2010 with a negative role. The movie became the biggest hit of the year, and Gippy Grewal got noticed. And rest, they say, is history.....   4. SURVEEN CHAWLA Her debut movie in Pollywood, Dharti (2011), became the highest grosser of its release weekend, leaving Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maaro Dum behind. Playing the leading lady opposite Jimmy Sheirgill gave her the right platform for launching a career where she never looked back. She has tried every genre, thriller to romance to comedy. There's absolutely no denying the fact that Surveen is one of the most talented ladies of Punjabi cinema ever. 5. DILJIT DOSANJH [caption id="attachment_42644" align="alignnone" width="350"]diljit dosanjh Source[/caption] Do we really need to spell out his claim-to-fame? But we, most definitely, should tell you that he had started off as a singer and then stepped into movies with The Lion Of Punjab in 2011. The movie had bombed on the box-office but gave us a star who paved his way to Bollywood. His last Pollywood outing Sajjan Singh Rangroot received critical acclaim. He recently played the role of Hockey Ace Sandeep Singh in Soorma and has been applauded for his performance with words like "purity and simplicity that touches your heart".
