5 WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN AND HAIR FROM COLORS THIS HOLI | GABRUU

The festival of Holi is just about to reach for which we all are eagerly waiting. Everyone seems to be gearing up to celebrate by bringing home a range of colors, preparing traditional sweets and snacks, decorating the house and so on.

While it is a great time for get-togethers, one mustn't forget to pay attention to his or her health and beauty. The colors can cause a lot of harm because they contain artificial substances. So we have some of the tips which will help you to take care of your skin and hair this Holi.

Use Herbal Colours

It is difficult to tell the difference between natural and dye colors, it is necessary to take precautions. Or buy herbal colors, or else make colors at home from flowers such as tesu or genda, even beetroot juice.

Tie Your Hair

Do not leave your hair loose, try braiding them up or just make them into a bun to avoid color to penetrate to your scalp. A well-tied hairdo will help the color to stick to the top and disable them to penetrate through, to damage the scalp and roots. You can also cover your hair by wearing a bandana.

Apply oil and moisturizer

Apply a good greasy moisturizer, coconut oil or mustard oil all over the body and face to avoid any direct contact with the Holi colors. Colors available in the market have harsh and harmful chemicals which can do some serious damage to the skin. So it's better to keep the skin protected beforehand.

Protect your nails

Nails should be protected too, otherwise, they take the color and get stained which is hard to clean afterward. Apply nail paint for protection which you should take off by cleaning it with a nail paint remover after the Holi celebrations are done. Nail paint will form a protection layer on them and avoid the chemicals to pass through. The oil which you will put all over will ensure that the cuticles are also protected.

Beware of Cuts and Wounds

If you hurt yourself while playing Holi, immediately wash that particular area and put ice on it. Clean with an antibacterial lotion to avoid absorption of chemicals, and get a tetanus injection in case you haven’t taken one in the last 4-5 months. If you already have an open wound or cut on your body before Holi, do use a band-aid so as to avoid the entry and absorption of any harmful chemicals.
