This is for the first time that National Film Awards Ceremony came out with a lot of drama, suspense, and action. It didn't seem like a film celebration. The 65th event made 50 awardees upset. The reason being President Ram Nath Kovind was not available to honour all 125, but only 11 awardees.
Everything was well-rehearsed before one day of the final event. But, when the notice came from Press Information Bureau that the award ceremony is in into two phases: At 4 pm, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani and her junior Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore would hand the awards, then at 5.30 pm President Kovind would arrive and give the rest of the awards.

However, no one was able to convince 50 awardees when they skipped it. Moreover, Bollywood star Late Sridevi won the National Film Award for the first time. Her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Jahnvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor received it. Jahnvi wore her mother's sari.
